2015 STARTED ON A WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF MUSICAL HIGHNESS FOR ME.
In early Febuary during Grammy week in Los Angeles, The Recording Academy celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Music Cares by honoring the great Bob Dylan at their annual Person of the Year dinner. Somehow the universe saw fit to have me sing harmonies with the amazing John Doe on Bob's song 'Pressing On' and with Bruce Springsteen on 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door'. I am comfortable in telling you that it was a pinnacle moment of grace on the winding and sometimes heartless musical path that I set out on some twenty years back. After Bruce Springsteen performed, Jimmy Carter introduced Bob Dylan who then made a rather breathtaking 35 minute speech. The evening finished with Neil Young singing 'Blowin' In The Wind' with two fine sisters singing harmony. The whole thing truly left me dizzy. Watch an excerpt of the evening here.
I HAD NO IDEA HOW I WOULD FOLLOW A NIGHT LIKE THAT.
Until I was asked to be a part of the Lead Belly at 125: A Tribute to an American Songster at The Kennedy Center April 25. This concert celebrating the folk and blues legend features headliners Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Buddy Miller, Alvin Youngblood Hart and Valerie June (my friend and bandmate in The Wandering). Here's the link to the full details.
I'D LIKE TO WELCOME ALL MY NEW FRIENDS TO THE MAILING LIST.
Many of you I met during my nine week residency in the Grammy Experience Room on board Norwegian Cruise Line's The Getaway! I'll be heading back to the open seas for several months again this summer. I must admit that the no driving thing really has it's perks.
Ohio and Kentucky folks, I'm coming your way for a great but short solo acoustic run March 19-22, dates below. Looking forward to your faces.
